Members of Darvel Parish Church and the people of Darvel are preparing to "Walk to Syria" so as to raise vital funds to support the 1,000's of displaced families that are now living in emergency camps on the borders of Syria. "Shoe on the other foot" refers to an existing campaign asking us to think about how we would feel if the tables were turned and we were the refugees…….
Walking 3,227 miles (the distance between Darvel Parish Church and the city of Damascus) is going to be a challenge and the congregation have set themselves a target of Christmas. Each day participants record the distance that they have walked and on a Sunday add their miles to the rest of the walkers. Every week the Sunday Seekers will update everyone on the progress so far.
Once the miles have been completed and the sponsorship pledges gathered all of the money raised is being given to Tearfund, who are there working in the camps. To find out more about the work of Tearfund then visit www.tearfund.org
Weekly updates will be available on our Facebook page "Darvel Parish Church".
If you would like to take part, sponsor us or find out more then please contact Stuart on 07951 070444.
